my least favorite part of serving is forgetting who ordered what ill walk up to the table with confidence and then draw a complete blank as i look between the dishes im holding and the guest i start to announce the dishes hoping to see a look of recognition flash on one of the guests faces saving me from asking the embarrassing question who ordered this as if i didnt just take the order a few minutes ago knowing who ordered what is really important number one it affects the guest experience and number two it reflects on my competency as a server both of which will influence my tips thankfully theres a brilliant system to help servers keep everything straight let me introduce you to the pivot point system the pivot point system is a method for numbering the guests at a table ing to where they sit so that you always know who ordered what without having to ask its designed to be consistent throughout the entire restaurant and understood by everyone who runs food most pos systems can

One receipt will show what was purchased, and the second receipt will show how you paid. An itemized meal receipt should have the name of the establishment, the date of service, the items purchased, the amount paid for each item, and the tax.
If this happened to you, you can choose to either contact the restaurant directly, or you can dispute the charge with your credit card company. If you talk to the manager of the restaurant and are able to show them a receipt, he or she should be able to issue you a refund of the extra charges.
Figuring out the tip If your total bill is $200 and you want to tip 15%, work out the tip by multiplying the total bill by 0.15. You can then add this amount to your bill when it comes to pay. Simple. Or alternatively, you can multiply the bill excluding service by 1.15 (assuming you want to leave that same 15% tip).
For an easy way to figure out a 20% tip, a good rule of thumb is to round off your total, double the amount, and then add one decimal point. For example, if your check total is $42.86, round off to $43, then take $43 and double it (multiply by 2), which is $86.
Add the tip to the receipt when you sign it, and the wait-staff will add it to the card total already approved. Credit card companies factor in that a point of sale from a restaurant will most likely include a tip.
A gratuity is an amount entirely at the service providers discretion. At the same time, a tip is something that is typically expected. Some people may advocate for the abolishment of tips. Certain restaurants and bars have even banned tipping from reducing inequality among workers.
An itemized meal receipt should have the name of the establishment, the date of service, the items purchased, the amount paid for each item, and the tax. If the tip is not included in the total it should be written on the receipt.
Note that there are typically two copies of the receipt: one marked Merchant Copy and another marked Customer Copy. You can write the tip on the Customer Copy for your records. Add the tip to the bill and write the total next to the line marked Total, then sign your name.
