To format a message, select Format , where you can: Select Bold. to enter bold text. Select Italic. to enter italic text. Select Underline. to enter underlined text. Select Strikethrough. to strikethrough text. Select Highlighter. Select Font Color. Select Font size. Select Rich style editor.
Turn on Track Changes to show edits made in a document, and use Show Markup to show the types of revisions youd like to display.
In Word 2016 use the flyout option in the Tracking section of the ribbon. Under Advanced Options change the Markup/Deletions pulldown menu item to Strikethrough.
When you want to see whos changing what in your document (or when you want someone else to see what you changed in their document), turn on Track Changes. When you want to see whos changing what in your document, click REVIEW Track Changes to turn on Track Changes.
When Track Changes is on, the section is highlighted. Deletions are marked with a strikethrough, and additions are marked with an underline.
A line through text and strikethrough are the same thing. The horizontal line through the middle of the text represents text that needs to be removed or revised. Someone reviewing your work may strike through the text they deem unnecessary or should be replaced by another word or phrase.
A strikethrough is simply a line through the middle of letters. Its great for collaborating and showing others which words you think should be removed.
Strikethrough can be applied either by clicking on the Strikethrough tool on the Home tab of the ribbon (in the Font group) or by choosing the Strikethrough check box on the Font tab of the Font dialog box (Ctrl+D). A typical use for characters being struck through is in relation to the Track Changes feature of Word.
