What is the discoloration of the ACL tear?

A black and blue discoloration around the knee, due to bleeding from inside the knee joint. A feeling that your injured knee will buckle, give out or give way if you try to stand.

When to remove dressing after ACL?

ACL Reconstruction Keep the post-operative dressings clean and dry. You can remove the bandages 2-3 days after surgery - but leave the Steri-strips in place. Keep the wounds covered with a small sterile dressing until your post-operative appointment.

How long after knee surgery can you remove dressing?

After surgery, wounds are typically covered with an adhesive dressing. This should be left in place for 2 weeks. Dressings will be removed at your first post-op appointment. Skin stitches or staples will be removed in clinic.

How long after ACL surgery can you get incisions wet?

Therefore, you may shower when you get home, but the incision will need to be covered. I recommend using saran wrap around the area to prevent it from getting wet. The stitches will be removed at the first follow up appointment 7-14 days after the surgery; thereafter, it is safe to get the incision wet.

How long until I can submerge my knee after ACL surgery?

Do not submerge the wounds in water (bathtub, pool, lake) for at least 2 weeks after surgery. 4. Because of the fluid used to inflate the knee during surgery, some drainage is expected. If the dressings become saturated or drainage continues beyond the first few days, call the office.

What are 3 signs of an ACL tear?
