The Markdown syntax has no built-in method for changing text colors. We can use HTML and LaTeX syntax to change the formatting of words: For HTML, we can wrap the text in the tag and set color with CSS, e.g., text . For PDF, we can use the LaTeX command \textcolor{}{} .
The HTML element defines bold text, without any extra importance.
Just use the HTML tag (recommended) or the tag inside your markdown for this. The HTML tag is the HTML "insert tag", and is usually displayed as underlined. Hence, you can use it for underlining, as @BlackMagic recommends in his answer here.
For bold text, use two asterisks – and if you want a text to be both bold and italicized, three asterisks are necessary. Alternatively, you can use underscores.
Text can't be underlined in Markdown. Although this is possible using the '' tags in HTML, it's usually inadvisable to do so.
Basic shortcuts for text formatting Bold: Ctrl+B. Italic: Ctrl+I. Underline: Ctrl+U.
Markdown syntax for a hyperlink is square brackets followed by parentheses. The square brackets hold the text, the parentheses hold the link.
Simply enclose the text between double asterisk ( **text** ) or two underscores ( __text__ ) to bold text. To italicise text, use single asterisks ( *text* ) or underscores ( _text_ ) before and after the text.
There are two ways to format code in Markdown. You can either use inline code, by putting backticks (`) around parts of a line, or you can use a code block, which some renderers will apply syntax highlighting to.
You need to escape the underscores if you want verbatim underscores instead of italic text. The way to escape a special character is to add a backslash before it, e.g., I do not want \_italic text\_ here .
