Wood filler dries quickly and provides a durable surface. It repairs the deeper damages, making it well-suited for gouges, nail holes and filling in gaps. Its especially good for gouges and deeper scratchesthose that took off more than the top layer of wood. Pick a wood filler that matches your wood color.
If its a gouge, youll need to sand the surface scratches until its smooth and even. Once youre done, you can apply a wood filler, such as putty, before repainting it. You can use an abrasive pad or fine sandpaper to remove a light scratch.
Mix 100ml (one part) of white vinegar with 200ml (two parts) olive oil in a bowl or a cup and mix well. Dip a soft cotton rag into the cup so that the solution gets soaked into the rag. Squeeze the rag so that there is no excess moisture dripping of it. Apply the soaked rag to your tabletop over the scratched area.
✓ Vinegar and Olive Oil: Create a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and olive oil. Dab a soft cloth into the mixture and rub it into the scratch using small, circular motions. Wipe off any excess with a clean cloth. ✓ Wood Polish: Apply a wood polish or wax to the scratch, following the products instructions.
Use your steel wool. Gently rub the steel wool over the scratch, remember to only ever rub WITH the grain of the wood, not against. Blend with sandpaper. Use the sandpaper to buff the edges of the scratch and the immediate area around it, so it will blend in with the rest of the floor.

Pick a wood filler that matches your wood color. Use a putty knife or scraper to spread the filler along the scratch until its filled. Use the knife or scraper to scrape off any excess filler above the scratch. Let the filler dry, for 30 minutes or the length of time on the filler packaging.
Olive Oil and Baking Soda These pantry staples are a great way to minimize or remove scratches on hardwood floors. Create a paste by adding several drops of olive oil to baking soda and apply it to the scratched area. Let it sit for five minutes, and then gently buff it using a soft cloth or sponge.
