Bobamp;#39;s question was pretty interesting; he said hey I received a spreadsheet from someone and they did this cool thing in Excel I canamp;#39;t figure out how they did it, basically they had a column of due dates and while the original due date had been maybe July 11, somehow they managed in a single cell to cross out July 11th and put it in July 13th. He said you know how can you do that? How can you change the format within a cell? Let me go down here to a new cell where we have a due date of July 12 and youamp;#39;ll notice that this is actually text and theyamp;#39;re not real dates so we can actually type a couple of spaces and then type the new due date, so Iamp;#39;ll put July 21st in there and then the trick is we

Apply strikethrough via cell format options Press Ctrl + 1 or right-click the selected cell(s) and choose Format Cells from the context menu. In the Format Cells dialog box, go to the Font tab, and tick off the Strikethrough option under Effects. Click OK to save the change and close the dialog.
The steps for Strikethrough using the Excel shortcut key are as follows: First, select the cells in which we need the Strikethrough format. Now, use the Excel Strikethrough shortcut key, Ctrl+5. The data will strike out, as shown below.
Right-click anywhere on the Quick Access Toolbar and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar. Select All Commands from the drop-down menu. Scroll down and select Strikethrough from the list of available commands. Press the Add button to add this to your Quick Access Toolbar. Press the OK button to close the menu.

You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + 5 to strikethrough Excel for Windows; on a Mac, press CMD + Shift + X. To add strikethrough to part of a cell, double-click the cell and select just the text you want to strike through.
Go to the Font tab in the Format Cells dialog box. Check the Strikethrough box. Optionally, you can make other formatting changes, such as setting a light grey font color for crossed-out entries. Click OK to close the Format Cells dialog box.
The Excel shortcut for strikethrough is Ctrl + 5 both on Mac and Windows. Another way to apply the strikethrough effect is by using the format dialogue box. For this, on Windows, press Ctrl + 1 to open up the format cells dialogue box. Then under the font ribbon, tick on the strikethrough effect on the bottom left.
