Whenever you see yellow (or amber) lights on a vehicle, it usually means its an emergency or duly volunteer vehicle helping for a specific purpose, which can range from road work to traffic control and disaster assistance. They are especially in use around airports, such as around the tarmac area.
Green or blue lights simply let you know that a system is on or operating. Orange/yellow warning lights generally signify that your vehicle needs to be serviced or repaired soon. These warnings are less urgent than if you have a red and/or flashing light. A red light means that you should take action immediately!
If you see orange or yellow dashboard lights it is reminding you that something needs to be serviced soon, like an oil change, or that something is wrong with your emissions system. While not an emergency, you should have a car mechanic look at the problem as soon as possible.
Type A lights are low-intensity and flashing from both sides. They are used to mark hazards and closures; warning traffic rather than guiding it. Type A lights can be seen at night, but are not permitted for use during the day. Type B lights are high intensity and flashing from one side.
A general rule of thumb to follow with warning lights is that a yellow/amber light is warning you of a problem that needs to be checked. While you dont need to stop driving immediately, you should get the problem checked as soon as possible. With red warning lights, you shouldnt drive your car at all.
Traction Control This light looks like the back of a car with squiggles behind it. It illuminates when your traction control system has been engaged, so it may appear, blink or flash sporadically, especially in rain or snow.
Check Engine - this yellow light could mean theres a critical issue, especially if its flashing. Low Fuel - this usually starts as a yellow light and indicates that its time to fill up with gas. Airbag - this yellow light is of low importance, but should get looked at for safety reasons.
Any flashing yellow signal means drivers are to slow down and proceed through the intersection with caution. A flashing red signal means motorists should come to a complete stop before proceeding.
