The exclamation point is an incredibly helpful punctuation tool in writing. It helps the writer to express emotion (good or bad) through writing. An exclamation point is used to express that a sentence should be read as though someone were crying out, yelling, shouting, screaming, or making some type of loud remark.
He meant what we now call the exclamation mark. Ben Jonson, Englands greatest punctuator, gave it a similar name calling it the admiration mark. In Jonsons time, it was also called a shriek and a screamer. Since then, it has been called a bang, a boing, a gasper, a pling, a slammer, and a Christer.
The exclamation mark (!) (also known as exclamation point in American English) is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or to show emphasis. The exclamation mark often marks the end of a sentence, for example: Watch out!
Warnings. Exclamation marks are used to emphasize a precautionary statement. On warning signs, an exclamation mark is often used to draw attention to a warning of danger, hazards, and the unexpected. These signs are common in hazardous environments or on potentially dangerous equipment.
And in the late 19th century, yellow journalists and sensationalists often incorporated the startling marks which printers called screamers, shrieks or bangs into their work. During the 20th century, use of the exclamation point calmed down.
An exclamation mark is a grammatical sign used to express strong feelings, such as anger or joy, in a written text. It can also be used to indicate a forceful command or statement. The exclamation mark can indicate that the speaker is surprised or excited.
Once the enemy has targeted you, youll see an exclamation point above the Player Info element. Along with the Targeted indicator, you might also see the Targeted by Artillery icon. This indicator lets you know that youve been targeted specifically by an enemy artillery vehicle.
