okay so you have um recorded a strike and dip somewhere and your job is to um draw the map symbol using one of these ruler protractors so how do we do that okay so weamp;#39;ve got oftentimes letamp;#39;s letamp;#39;s say that this is our map so we have north is up maybe thereamp;#39;s a creek coming through here um thereamp;#39;s a mountain over here not you know just just letamp;#39;s say we found a rock out crop right there and we want to um and itamp;#39;s and the strike and dip was weamp;#39;ll say um um north 30 west and the dip was uh 24 um to the west okay oops i can see thatamp;#39;s off the screen here um so the the dip was was 24 west so weamp;#39;re going to need some we donamp;#39;t have a we need a reference line so iamp;#39;m going to just go up to the top of the page here and just make a really thin line coming down north-south line often maps have these on them already but we can use the side of the page if not okay so notice these numbers in here um first
