ACL tear often occurs when landing on a single leg with a relatively straight leg Landing very hard on a flat foot for one this position is going to put a lot of stress on the ACL but also when you land with a flat foot you have what we call a very high ground reaction force this is the impact thats basically transferred from the ground back up through your body that has to be absorbed by your joints if you land nice and smooth on the ball of your foot its very controlled the peak forces are very low but if you land very hard and firm on your foot higher Peak ground reaction forces higher load through the knee so lets look first to Dario Sarge to identify that he lands here right leg relatively straight and again he lands very quickly and firm boom slapping down on that right foot short impact time High Ground reaction force High Force Through the knee Markel fultz again left leg plants here leg is relatively straight and then all of a sudden boom lands on a flat foot straight leg

Grade III sprains are the most common types of ACL injuries among athletes. This occurs when the fibers of the ligament are completely torn. This is often referred to as a rupture, meaning the ligament has completely torn apart into two sections. Symptoms of a Grade III sprain are frequently more severe.
Grade 3 most severe ACL injury. Means a complete or near complete tear. The ligament has split into two pieces. Grade 3 is the most common type of ACL injury.
Sports injuries are the most common causes of ACL tears, however, the ACL can be injured during any trauma, such as during a car accident, falling off a ladder, or missing a step on a staircase.
The most common mechanism is that of a sudden pivoting or cutting maneuver during sporting activity, which is commonly seen in football, basketball and soccer. The ligament can also tear due to work injuries or automobile accidents. At the time of the injury, a pop or snap can sometimes be felt or heard.
This injury can cause instability and weakness in the knee joint without proper treatment. In a Grade 1 injury, your ACL is stretched and endures mild damage. A Grade 2 injury, which is sometimes called a partial tear is actually quite rare, and a Grade 3 injury is a complete or nearly complete tear of the ACL.
A loud pop or a popping sensation in the knee. Severe pain and inability to continue activity. Rapid swelling. Loss of range of motion.
An ACL injury is either a tear or sprain. An ACL tear is when the ACL is actually torn. The tear can be complete or partial. An ACL sprain is when the ACL is overstretched (but not torn).
After a complete ACL tear, some patients are unable to participate in cutting- or pivoting-type sports, while others have instability during even normal activities, such as walking. There are some rare individuals who can participate in sports without any symptoms of instability.
