Strikethrough adds a horizontal line through the middle of the text, indicating that its no longer relevant. Underline, on the other hand, places a horizontal line beneath the text, often used to emphasize or highlight specific words or phrases.

The strikethrough function in Google Docs allows users to retain parts of the text they arent ready to delete right away. Writers can hold onto crossed-out sections that can be used later while improvising a text document.
The problem is that most screen readers dont output the strikethrough semantics. This can be very problematic to the blind user since they wont know which price is valid. Most in-line semantic elements such as and are not conveyed to screen readers actually.
Strikethrough is often used to show changes made to a document over time. For example, in a legal document, previous versions of terms or conditions can be shown with strikethrough to indicate they are no longer valid.
A line through text and strikethrough are the same thing. The horizontal line through the middle of the text represents text that needs to be removed or revised. Someone reviewing your work may strike through the text they deem unnecessary or should be replaced by another word or phrase.
Where is the font Strikethrough option? Click Open in Excel. Select the cells containing the data you want to format. Click the Format Cells box launcher. Tip: You can also press Ctrl+5. In the Format Cells box, under Effects, click Strikethrough. Save the workbook and reopen it in Excel for the web to see the changes.
