At present, there are no dates for Royal Mail to strike in January 2023, however, it's looking increasingly likely that more dates will be confirmed soon. Both CWU and Royal Mail are in current talks over pay and working conditions but it's believed they won't reach an agreement.
17 January 2023 Train driver RMT members at 14 rail operators will take strike action on February 1 and 3 over jobs pay and conditions. The decision to strike on February 1 coincides with a TUC day of action where several unions are coordinating their strikes during the cost-of-living crisis.
The early February RMT and ASLEF strike dates announced so far will only cover rail operators, meaning that Transport for London (TfL) underground services are unlikely to be directly affected. There may however be knock-on effects or disruption caused by alterations to usual travel patterns.
No, there are no more planned strikes in January or the rest of 2023 while writing this. However, more could be planned as the CWU is still in dispute with Royal Mail. In November, Royal Mail offered its “best and final offer” of a 9% pay deal over 18 months and other benefits, but the union rejected it immediately.
Strike action will impact certain train operators on the 1st and 3rd February 2023. This is also likely to impact some services on the morning after the strikes.
When are the next train strikes in August 2022? The next train strikes will take place on Thursday 18 August and Saturday 20 August. On the 13 August, Aslef union members walked out after rail firms failed to make a pay offer to help members salaries keep up with increases in the cost of living.
Update: 9 September 2022 Train drivers will strike on Thursday September 15 and Saturday 17 September 2022 as part of a long-running dispute over pay and conditions on the railway.
There are currently no RMT strikes planned, though the union already has a mandate to run strikes until the end of May. Its general secretary, Mick Lynch, has said another ballot allowing strikes to run until November is a “possibility”.
Rail Strike Update: Strikes 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th October 2022.
There are no further strike dates currently confirmed for 2023, but the dispute between Royal Mail and the CWU shows little sign of reaching a conclusion, meaning further action is likely at this stage. Royal Mail tabled its “best and final” offer to workers in late November.
