After having an unexpected seizure on his thirteenth birthday, Freak is admitted into the hospital, where he gives Max a blank book, telling him to write the story of Freak the Mighty in it. Max returns to the hospital the next day to find that Freak died because his heart became too big for his body.
Summary: Chapter 19: Into the Black Down Under He leads Max to an old, abandoned building and forces him inside. He leads Max down to the basement and ties him to the boiler. Then he rips a piece off of Maxs shirt, and gags Max with it to prevent him from calling for help.
Loretta cracked a bone in her neck, but she will recover. Grim and Gram were terrified by the experience and keep a watchful eye on Max. Killer Kane is charged with a parole violation in addition to violation of a restraining order, abduction of a minor, and two counts of attempted murder.
In Chapter 18 of Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, Maxs dad Kenny, aka Killer Kane, has a plan for a lucrative future for Max and himself, but for now, theyre stuck in a hideout evading police.
