While layered bobs work best with natural waves, in order to create the illusion of extra volume, especially for finer hair, it does require a bit more styling. The textured bob has a much more subtle shape and also requires less at-home maintenance which is music to our ears.
Textured hair essentially means adding separation and definition in the hair to create different lengths or layers within it. To put that simply, youll see it as something that looks a lot messier and less structured in comparison with straight natural hair, or hair without any texture added through.
To cut a layered bob, begin cutting the hair in sections.Separate the hair into 3 sections. This creates a left side, back side, and right side. If the hair is parted on one side, the left or right side will have more hair than the other side, which is okay. Use hair clips to keep each section of hair in place.

Layers are cut with a straight shear when the hair is held at certain angles from the head. Texturizing are interior layers that are done to remove bulk from the ends and certain areas to create volume and accentuate a haircut. If hair is not texturized, it will likely become bulky on the ends and lack volume.
Adding choppy layers creates textured bob haircuts that give it more movement and definition. Choppy bobs are created using standard or razor shears to cut shorter sections of your hair. A bob with choppy layers is a great haircut for women with thin and thick hair.
Layered bob haircuts are great for thick hair because they help remove bulk and density. The more layers you add, the more it will help your thick hair lay better. If you are looking for a super short and unique hairstyle, try a high-contrast wedge bob. The transition from short to long gives a distinctive look.
Use texturizing shears at an angleopen, close, repeatto create texturized layers in the hair. Instead of doing a blunt line, working at an angle will create a different type of texture that moves from shorter to longer and maintains length.
