Use the Trim formula to remove extra spaces Add the helper column to the end of your data. In the first cell of the helper column (C2), enter the formula to trim excess spaces =TRIM(A2) Copy the formula across the other cells in the column. Replace the original column with the one that has the cleaned data.
Go to Home Paragraph dialog launcher Indents and Spacing. Under Special, select None. Select OK.
On the Formulas tab, click the Text dropdown menu in the Functions group and select TRIM. After the dialog box appears, click on the cell that contains the text you would like to remove spaces from to complete the function. Click OK.
What works for me is a one line VBA script that removes all tab characters from the selected cells. Select the cells containing tab characters to remove. Press ALT+F11 to open the VBE (Visual Basic Editor). Paste this code into a code module, make sure the cursor is on the code and press F5 to run it.
The TRIM function can get rid of white spaces, but it cannot eliminate non-printing characters. Technically, Excel TRIM is designed to only delete value 32 in the 7-bit ASCII system, which is the space character. To remove spaces and non-printing characters in a string, use TRIM in combination with the CLEAN function.
To resize the worksheet tabs in Excel to display more or fewer tabs, you can adjust the tab scrolling settings. Here is how you can do it: Right-click on any of the worksheet tabs at the bottom of the Excel window. In the context menu that appears, select Tab scrolling buttons to open the Tab scrolling buttons menu.
To clear a tab stop Go to Home and select the Paragraph dialog launcher . Select Tabs. Do one of the following: Select a tab stop and select Clear. Select Clear All to remove all tab stops. Select OK.
