What thread size is egt gauge?

The SAAS EGT Probe compression fitting and weld in bung allows you to and/or repair a SAAS EGT probe into your exhaust system and uses a 1/8 NPT thread. If your dump pipe already has a 1/4 BSP bung installed, you can adapt down with our SGA-320048 stainless steel reducer bush.

What is the diameter of an EGT probe?

The EGT probe will fit most internal combustion engine exhaust systems from approximately . 750 inch diameter up to about 4 inch diameter with nominal installation modifications. The EGT probe is 0.187 diameter (4.75 mm) with a 90-degree bend to accommodate tight mounting locations.

Can you cut down a thermocouple probe?

How to know which EGT sensor is bad?

A quick way to check the EGT probe is to disconnect it from whatever device you are using to read it put an ohm meter across both output wires (the wire colors are usually red yellow). If you get an open reading then the probe is probably bad. If you get somewhere between 3 to 12 ohms then it may still be okay.

Can you shorten EGT wires?

Reducing the length of the EGT probes wire by a few feet typically will not affect the operation or accuracy of the probe.

Can you cut an RTD probe?

They can be cut to length in the field using a standard tube cutter. This allows you to continue monitoring your process while you wait for a standard industrial replacement.

Can you shorten a temperature probe?

Cutting it will destroy the device. If its a digital thermometer, the temperature measuring element is a small lump at the very tip of the probe. Cutting the probe without cutting the connecting wires would be tricky, but even if you do cut them, if you can get everything spliced back together it should work fine.
