weamp;#39;re going to be demonstrating graph preparation for all inside ACL reconstruction using a quadrupled semitendinosus tendon to make the graph link as you can see the graph measures 27 centimeters in length and this can be quadrupled and with a 27 centimeter graft this gives between 65 and 70 millimeters in length for the graph link the ACL tightropes are loaded onto the graph preparation station such that all graph preparation can be carried out without an assistant first we take a small hemostat and bring the end of the semitendinosus graft through the first ACL tightrope and then through the second this thing creates a short length and a long length as can be seen the longer end is then brought back through both ACL tight ropes to create a quadruple graft with two free ends to free ends are then sutured together with a mattress suture using zero fiber wire in isolation the pullout strength of this knot is not great but once itamp;#39;s been incorporated into the graph link

A Word About Terminology Ipsilateral means on the same side of the body. For ACL injuries, it refers to the injured knee. Contralateral means on the other side. For ACL injuries, it refers to the currently uninjured knee.
Research shows a tear of the ACL in the previously un-injured knee after successful return to sport status post ACL reconstruction can range from 3%-11%. Factors that have been shown to increase risk of opposite side ACL tear include age of 18 and younger, return to competitive sports, and male gender.
What are the types of ACL tears? Grade 1 (least severe ACL injury). You stretched but didnt quite tear the ACL. Grade 2 (partial tear). You stretched the ACL, making it loose. Grade 3 (most severe ACL injury). A complete or near complete tear the ligament has split into 2 pieces.
A person with a partial ACL tear may have knee pain, swelling, and joint instability but the degree of all three may depend on the extent of the tear and the individual patient.
An ACL injury may be diagnosed when the ligament is overstretched or torn. The tear may be partial or complete; a complete tear of the ACL is also known as an ACL rupture.
This explains why most ACL tears occur without contact. The PCL, on the other hand, does the opposite, preventing the tibia from sliding backwards relative to the femur. PCL tears typically occur when there is a direct blow to the front of the tibia, or when the knee hyperextends from an awkward landing.
For example, an ACL tear often occurs along with tears to the MCL and the shock-absorbing cartilage in the knee (meniscus). Most ACL tears occur in the middle of the ligament, or the ligament is pulled off the thigh bone. These injuries form a gap between the torn edges, and do not heal on their own.
