There are two ways to do this: Add double quotation marks with a space between them . For example: =CONCATENATE(Hello, , World!). Add a space after the Text argument. For example: =CONCATENATE(Hello , World!). The string Hello has an extra space added.
Explanation. To include double quotes inside a formula, you can use additional double quotes as escape characters. By escaping a character, you are telling Excel to treat the character as literal text.
For example, if you want to paste the contents of a cell but dont want to overwrite the existing contents of the cell where youre pasting, you can use the Paste Special function. This will allow you to paste the contents of the cell as a value, a formula, or a format without overwriting the existing contents.
3. Use CHAR(34) within formulas where you need to output quotation marks. For example, to add quotes around the text in cell A1, you would type =CHAR(34)A1CHAR(34) in an empty cell.
I am using CHAR(34) to avoid unwanted double quotes when producing dimensional arrays, objects etc. via Google Sheets. Or maybe you had a different usage style than ours.
To escape quotes in Google Sheets, you can use a backslash () before the quote. For example, if you want to enter Hello world in a cell, you would enter Hello world in the cell. This will ensure that the quotes are not interpreted as a formula or text formatting.
Please go to Tools Preferences General and UN-check the box for Use smart quotes. To change smart quotes to straight quotes, press Ctrl + H.
