To change to Roman Numerals, on the Insert Ribbon, in the Header Footer Group, click on the arrow next to the Page Number icon and select Format Page Numbers to set the start at number and the style of numbering.
Answered By: Kathy Adams Oct 05, 2021 325027 Select the page number that has been inserted. On the Insert tab, within the Header Footer Group, click Page Number and then navigate to Format Page Numbers. On the Format Page Numbers dialog box, select Roman numerals from the Number Format drop-down list.
On the Insert tab again, click Page Number then choose Format Page Numbers 4. Click the down arrow at Number Format then choose the lower case roman numerals, i, ii, iii and click OK. 5.
At the top of the page, before the first line/word, click on the document to place your curser. Then choose Page Layout from the top menu. Next select Breaks - Next Page. Now choose Insert from the top menu and then select Page Numbers and then choose how you want them to appear in the document.
Keeping your cursor on the same page, go back to InsertPage Numbers Format page numbers. Change number format to 1, 2, 3 and click on Start at 1. This will keep the preliminary pages numbered with lower case Roman numerals and the rest of the thesis numbered with Arabic numerals.
