Use Snipping Tool to make changes or notes, then save, and share. Draw a free-form shape around an object. Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle. Select a window, such as a dialog box, that you want to capture.
To extract text from images using the Snipping Tool, right-click the image from which you want to extract text, hover over Open with, and choose Snipping Tool from the menu that crops up. Then, click the Text actions icon in the top bar.
The Snipping Tool supports digital ink drawings and can automatically convert digital equations to LaTeX, MathML, AsciiMath, and more.
Keyboard shortcuts for annotating screenshots on Windows Press the Windows key + Shift + S to capture a screenshot. This will save the screenshot to your clipboard. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot. Press B to draw a box, L to add a line, and T to add text. Save the screenshot by pressing Ctrl + S.
Enter Text: Click on the location in the snip where you want to add text. A text box will appear, and you can start typing your desired text. You can also adjust the text size, font, and color using the formatting options in the toolbar.
In the Snipping Tool editor, click on the Pen icon, which is the third icon from the left in the toolbar. This will allow you to draw freehand on the snip. Select the text icon from the toolbar, which looks like an A. You can now click anywhere on the snip to add a text box.
Once youve captured a snip, select the Text actions button to activate the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature. This allows you to extract text directly from your image.
