Check your save destination In some cases, Snipping Tool may be working, but it may seem like screenshots arent saving properly. If youre having trouble finding your saved screenshots, try going to the C:\Users\[Username]\Pictures\Screenshots folder.
The JPEG format is usually used when you take screenshots using the snipping tool but you can also save images in other formats such as PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF and HTML as well.
Snips can then be annotated using a mouse or a tablet, stored as an image file (PNG, GIF, or JPEG file) or an MHTML file, or e-mailed. The Snipping Tool allows for basic image editing of the snapshot, with different colored pens, an eraser, and a highlighter.
Delay your screenshot In Snipping Tool, select Delay and then select, for example, 5 seconds. Select Mode to start the 5-second countdown. Within 5 seconds, open a menu or otherwise compose your image. At 5 seconds, when you see the screen turn gray, use the mouse to draw around the area you want.

To take a snip, press the button titled New. Then, adjust the box to get the area that you would like to capture. By default, this box is in the shape of a rectangle. To change, click mode and select your preference. To save, press file.
If youre using the Snipping Tool instead of Prt Sc, you will find the screenshot in the Pictures Screenshots folder. Youll also be able to find it on the clipboard.
The SNIP file is mainly associated with the Windows Snipping tool, a screenshot utility that comes as a feature in the Microsoft Windows operating system starting from Windows Vista.
After you capture a snip, its automatically copied to the Clipboard and the mark-up window.
By default, Snipping Tool files are saved in your Pictures folder, with the name of Snip followed by a number. However, you can choose where you want to save snips, such as OneDrive, when you save them.
