I do see it is a common problem with HDR if it is on. Turn it off for snip, then back on. If you go into windows display settings, Windows HD Color. If you have multiple monitors, you might have to go through difference monitors to find the one with it on.
I usually use the PrtScr shortcut (via Snipping Tools). After conducting some experiments, Ive observed that the screen capture results are influenced by brightness. Increasing the brightness helps, but the captures are still darker than what I see on the screen.
There are four ways to open Snipping Tool: Select the Start button, enter snipping tool, then select Snipping Tool from the results. Press Windows logo key + Shift + S for a static image snip. Press Print Screen (PrtSc) for a static image snip. Press Windows logo key + Shift + R for a video snip.
When HDR is enabled for a screen, a screenshot of Google Chrome web page may be overly bright. The solution is to type chrome://flags/#force-color-profile in the address bar of Google Chrome (or edge://flags/#force-color-profile in Microsoft Edge), then change the color profile from Default to HDR10 (where available).
High Dynamic Range (HDR) can sometimes cause screenshots to appear brighter than they are. Go to Settings System Display. Under Advanced display, look for the HDR section. If its enabled, toggle the switch to Off.
If your images look desaturated, washed out, or simply dont match the files on your monitor, they may not be in the recommended Color Profile. For consistent color display across all devices, you should ensure that your files are in sRGB.
