To import values for your custom fields, you MUST create the custom fields in Snipe-IT first. Once all of the custom fields you want to import to are created in Admin Custom Fields, you can simply add additional columns to your CSV. Make sure the name of the Custom Field exactly matches your existing Custom Fields.
This can be done with the help of the pandas. readcsv() method. We will pass the first parameter as the CSV file and the second parameter as the list of specific columns in the keyword usecols. It will return the data of the CSV file of specific columns.
If you have a DataFrame and would like to access or select a specific few rows/columns from that DataFrame, you can use square brackets or other advanced methods such as loc and iloc .
The readcsv() function takes the path to the CSV file as an argument and returns a dataframe containing the data. df = pd. readcsv(path/to/csv/file.csv) df = df[[columnname1, columnname2, columnname3]] df. tocsv(path/to/new/csv/file.csv, index=False)
Reproduction steps Create CSV file with the assets I wanted to add to the Asset list in Snipe-IT by following the documentation. Goto Import on the web portal and upload the CSV file. Upload works fine, check the Map Import Fields, it all matches. Select Import.
Steps to Read CSV Files in Python Using csv.reader Import the CSV library. import csv. Open the CSV file. The .open() method in python is used to open files and return a file object. Use the csv.reader object to read the CSV file. csvreader = csv.reader(file) Extract the field names. Extract the rows/records. Close the file.
