in this lesson Im going to be showing you how to add two binary numbers together now this is something weve already discussed in a previous lesson but now I want to go over it more comprehensively so lets take a binary number and consider adding it to another arbitrary binary number now how do you do this first of all the way that Ive shown you already to do this is that you create a new addition problem with multiple terms by basically adding the digits that you can in your head so what we can do is we can say ok 1 + 0 is 1 and we write out 1 and then we can say 2 + 2 is 4 and we can write out four in binary and then we can say four and four is eight we can write out eight in binary and if its simple enough we just simply drop down the ones and we have our answer so thats one way to do it now Im going to show you another way to do it so lets take another binary number and look at how we add it together okay so this time Im going to show you how to do binary addition where you

Reading Binary In base 10 notation, each place value represents a power of ten: the units place (100 = 1), the tens place (101 = 10), the hundreds place (102 = 100), the thousands place (103 = 1000), etc. So, for example: 9827 = 9 103 + 8 102 + 2 101 + 7 100.
We add binary numbers just like we add decimal numbers, using the technique you learned in grade school. But now we add bits in binary, so 1 + 1 = 10 (the binary representation of 2), and 1 + 1 + 1 = 11 (the binary representation of 3). Lets look at an example. We want to add 1011 and 111.
We can represent the decimal number 10 in the binary system as 1010, i.e. (10)10 = (1010)2.
The numbers from 0 to 10 are thus in binary 0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000, 1001, and 1010.
In computer science and mathematics, binary is a system where numbers and values are expressed 0 or 1. Binary is base-2, meaning that it only uses two digits or bits. For computers, 1 is true or on, and 0 is false or off. The concept of binary and bits are based on of Boolean Algebra.
In computer applications, where binary numbers are represented by only two symbols or digits, i.e. 0 (zero) and 1(one). The binary numbers here are expressed in the base-2 numeral system. For example, (101)2 is a binary number. Each digit in this system is said to be a bit.
And, to be exact, its 2^31. Thats docHub -- as youll see in a minute. In binary, 2147483647 is 01111111111111111111111111111111 and its the biggest positive number that will fit in 32 bits when using the twos complement notation -- the way of representing numbers that allows for negative values.
Preliminary Concepts: Negative Binary Numbers The simplest is to simply use the leftmost digit of the number as a special value to represent the sign of the number: 0 = positive, 1 = negative.
