hey guys welcome to the construction site on Saturday today we are going to attempt to do some thermal isolation on our foundation using XPS extruded polystyrene you can see we got a new electrical box itamp;#39;s ok oh I just sank the boxes started connected to mains power but the guys put it here and players are going to do a installation under the road in December so weamp;#39;re gonna get nice electrical power here I have been working on Thursday last week with some bitumen masks to bridge the gap between the foundation and the wide isolation on the walls and as you can tell it came out pretty well Iamp;#39;m hoping this will not peel off at all but thatamp;#39;s not a problem because today weamp;#39;re going to apply some panels onto this that are going to basically be somewhere up to here this polystyrene and yeah so the idea is to cover up the gap between the wall and the foundations of any waters in here it wonamp;#39;t seep under the wall wherever all of this around here

Both hydrogen and helium cannot be detected using XPS. For this reason, XPS can provide only relative, rather than absolute, ratios of elements in a sample.
When quantifying XPS spectra, Relative Sensitivity Factors (RSF) are used to scale the measured peak areas so that variations in the peak areas are representative of the amount of material in the sample surface.
While AES is a very valuable surface analysis technique, there are limitations. Because AES is a three-electron process, elements with less than three electrons cannot be analyzed. Therefore, hydrogen and helium cannot be detected.
How to interpret the data it generates Peaks from the XPS spectra give relative number of electrons with a specific binding energy. The shorter the peak, the less electrons represented. The greater the binding energy, the greater the attraction of that electron to the nucleus.
Most commonly in XPS instruments the electron energy analyser is positioned so that most of the detected electrons have originated from the sample surface with a trajectory in line with the surface normal. This is called normal emission, and the electrons are said to have a take-off angle of 90 to the surface.
XPS Limitations Detection limits typically ~ 0.1 at% Smallest analytical area ~30 m. Limited specific organic information (no long-range bonding information) Sample must be UHV compatible.
The lower curve presents the spectrum of a hydrocarbon polymer polyethylene, where only a carbon peak is observed. Hydrogen cannot be detected by XPS because there are no core electrons [6] . We can also observe some oxygen, which is a consequence of surface contamination.
While the emission of X-rays (process (i)) produces singly ionized atoms, the emission of Auger electrons (process (ii)) results in doubly ionized atoms. Because Auger is a three-electron process, hydrogen and helium cannot be detected by this technique.
