Create a code snippet Create a new XML file in Visual Studio and add the template shown above. Fill in the title of the snippet in the Title element. Fill in the language of the snippet in the Language attribute of the Code element. Add the snippet code in the CDATA section inside the Code element.
Text Snippets are bits of text that live in your Content Library so you can drag and drop them into various documents. Maybe you use certain pieces of text in various documents over and over (or would like to). Make that process quick and easy by using Text Snippets.
Type the # symbol into the text editor. Start typing the snippet shortcut, then select the snippet from the dropdown menu. The snippet will automatically populate in the text editor. At the bottom of the text editor, click the textSnippet snippets icon, then select a snippet from the dropdown menu.
From your desktop, click the plus icon next to the message field. Search for and select Create a text snippet from the menu. Enter a title if youd like, then choose a file type from the drop-down menu. Type or paste your snippet in the Content field.
Creating a snippet Go to Settings Preferences Shortcuts Snippets. Click the Add Snippet button. Add a name / short description of your snippet (e.g. Importance of Hydration) Select an optional category for your snippet. Select your snippet formatting option, either plain or rich text.
This is quick and easy to do using a tool like: Use tags to surround your code. For the tag you can optionally add class=line-numbers. This will add line numbers to your code and these line numbers will not be copied if students copy and paste snippets.
In your document, select the text that you want to make into a reusable snippet. Press Alt+F3.
There are two ways to add a snippet: Type the # symbol into the text editor. Start typing the snippet shortcut, then select the snippet from the dropdown menu. The snippet will automatically populate in the text editor.
To insert a snippet into a code window, place the cursor where the snippet is to be inserted, right-click to display the context menu, and select Insert Snippet or type CTRL + K, then X. The Code Snippet Picker is then displayed for you to pick the desired snippet. To cancel the Code Snippet Picker, press the Esc key.
Code snippets are templates that make it easier to enter repeating code patterns, such as loops or conditional-statements. In Visual Studio Code, snippets appear in IntelliSense (Ctrl+Space) mixed with other suggestions, as well as in a dedicated snippet picker (Insert Snippet in the Command Palette).
