To use the function, enter =LEN(cell) in the formula bar and press Enter. In these examples, cell is the cell you want to count, such as B1. To count the characters in more than one cell, enter the formula, and then copy and paste the formula to other cells.
If you want to count logical values, text, or error values, use the COUNTA function. If you want to count only numbers that meet certain criteria, use the COUNTIF function or the COUNTIFS function.
In the first cell of the column, you want to populate with the truncated number, type an = sign to indicate youre using a formula. Then type TRUNC. Use an open parenthesis to add the operators of the formula. The first number you enter is the number you want to truncate.
Step-by-step Guide Press the Table Snip button on the DataSnipper ribbon. Draw a rectangle around the table you want to extract. After placing the Table Snip, you can adjust the table by stretching the edges on the Document Viewer. You can add columns by using the plus button or remove a column with the minus button.
Count how often a single value occurs by using the COUNTIF function. Use the COUNTIF function to count how many times a particular value appears in a range of cells.
Display credit card numbers in full. Select the cell or range of cells that you want to format. Click the cell, or press the arrow keys to move to the cell. Click the first cell in the range, and then drag to the last cell, or hold down SHIFT while you press the arrow keys to extend the selection.
Use the COUNT function to get the number of entries in a number field that is in a range or array of numbers. For example, you can enter the following formula to count the numbers in the range A1:A20: =COUNT(A1:A20). In this example, if five of the cells in the range contain numbers, the result is 5.
Count the number of unique values by using the FREQUENCY function. The FREQUENCY function ignores text and zero values. For the first occurrence of a specific value, this function returns a number equal to the number of occurrences of that value.
