SMB version one was released by IBM and modified by Microsoft in nineteen-ninety. Accessing Samba shares from a Windows desktop Log on to a Windows computer that is joined to the domain with an Active Directory user account. Click Start Windows Explorer, then navigate to the domain. Select the Linux or UNIX computer that is integrated with Samba to view its Samba shares.

Samba is the standard Windows interoperability suite of programs for Linux and Unix. Since 1992, Samba has provided secure, stable and fast file and print services for all clients using the SMB/CIFS protocol, such as all versions of DOS and Windows, OS/2, Linux and many others.
smbclient is a command line tool similar to a ftp connection while smbfs allows you to mount a SMB file share. Once a SMB share is mounted it acts similar to a local hard drive (you can access the SMB share with your file browser (nautilus, konqueror, thunar, other).
Create an SMB file share symbol store Open File Explorer. Select and hold (or right-click) the D:\SymStore\Symbols folder and select Properties. Select the Sharing tab. Select Advanced Sharing. In Advanced Sharing, select the Share this folder checkbox, and then select Permissions.
