A typeface is the underlying visual design that can exist in many different typesetting technologies, and a font is one of these implementations. In other words, a typeface is what you see and a font is what you use.
A typeface (or font family) is the design of lettering that can include variations in size, weight (e.g. bold), slope (e.g. italic), width (e.g. condensed), and so on. Each of these variations of the typeface is a font.
You can think of typeface as another term for font (the two words are often used interchangeably), although its more accurate to call a typeface a font family, a group of fonts with similar designs. Typefaces have official names like Comic Sans, Garamond, and Helvetica.
There are five basic classifications of typefaces: serif, sans serif, script, monospaced, and display.
To create a new Font Theme in the current PowerPoint presentation: In Normal View or Slide Sorter View, click the Design tab in the Ribbon. In the Variants group, click the More down arrow. Select Fonts. Click Customize Fonts. Click the arrow below Heading font and select the font you want to use.

Typeface refers to a group of characters, letters and numbers that share the same design. For example Garamond, Times, and Arial are typefaces. Whereas font is a specific style of typeface with a set width, size, and weight. For example, Arial is a typeface; 16pt Arial Bold is a font.
You can find it in the Editing options under the Home tab. Clicking Replace Fonts brings up two dropdown menus, the first of which includes all the fonts used in your deck.
