The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) specification defines a set of document types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information, as well as a set of mechanisms for combining, extending, and constraining document types.
Basic concepts DITA has been designed to satisfy requirements for information typing, semantic markup, modularity, reuse, interchange, and production of different deliverable forms from a single source. These topics provide an overview of the key DITA features and facilities that serve to satisfy these requirements.
There are two distinct types of DITA documents, topics and maps. In addition to the DITA topic and map types, Arbortext also supports the DITA Ditabase document type. DITA Ditabase documents are used to collect different types of DITA topics into a single document.
DITA stands for Darwin Information Typing Architecture, and is an XML-based open standard for developing, managing, structuring, and publishing content both for print and the web.
