A theme is a predefined set of colors, fonts, and visual effects that you apply to your slides for a unified, professional look. Using a theme gives your presentation a harmonious appearance with minimal effort.
Change theme A theme is a preset group of colors, fonts, backgrounds, and layouts. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides. At the top, click Slide Change theme. On the right, click the theme you want.
To find a template or slide with background images to begin a new presentation, do the following: Click File New. In the search box, do one of the following: Choose a template or design slide that has the backgrounds you like, and then click Download.

Create a new theme color On the Design tab, click the arrow under Variants, and point to Colors. Click Customize Colors. Click a color box that you want to change. Click a new color in the Colors dialog box. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each color you want to change. Close the Colors dialog box.
Try it! Select Design. Hover over the Themes to preview how it looks, and select the one you like. Select More. to see more Themes. By default, the theme you select applies to all slides in your presentation. In the Variants group, select More. to change Colors, Fonts, Effects, and Background Styles.
