hello welcome to this third in a series of presentations im giving on slide rules um todays im going to talk about the hemi 257 slide roll uh im not sure the exact name some people say its a chemistry slider others say its a chemical engineering slide rule but its a bamboo slide rule put out by hemi starting in like 1954 or so and ill give a overview of what im talking about with this well go a little bit about the background and history and talk about you know when the slide rules were made how you can tell if youve owned one when it was made comparison with some of the traditional slide rules that hemi put out in the 50s and 60s ill go over remainder well go over the the scales involved with these slide rules atomic element and molecular group marks and how you can do conversions between mass and mole fraction or mass and volume fraction and some of the neat things you can do with temperature pressure conversions and also real basic calculations on uh doing adiabatic com
