135 film, more popularly referred to as 35 mm film or 35 mm, is a format of photographic film with a film gauge of 35 mm (1.4 in) loaded into a standardized type of magazine (also referred to as a cassette or cartridge) for use in 135 film cameras.
A slide is a specially mounted transparency intended for projection onto a screen using a slide projector, allowing the photograph to be viewed by a large audience at once. The most common form is the 35mm slide but many others exist including 110 and 126 formats. All come mounted in 2x2 cardboard or plastic mounts.
126 Slides are individual 126 Negatives housed in a 2x 2 mount. The mounts are usually made of plastic or dense cardboard. The size of the frame that displays is about 26.5mm x 26.5mm (tall x wide). The most common medium format film is 6cm x 6cm with a frame size of 56mm x 56mm.
Slide commonly refers to a 35 mm photographic positive image comprising chromogenic dyes on a transparent base held inside a plastic or card mount. Without this mount, the transparent film material would not be able to slide from one image to another inside a carousel or magazine when projected.
The Film size is approx. 1 1/16 square. The term 126 was intended to show that images were 26mm square, using Kodaks common 1xx film numbering system. However the image size is actually 28 x 28 mm, but usually reduced to approximately 26.5 x 26.5 mm by masking during printing or mounting.
135 (35mm) slides are the most widely used type of photographic slides and measure 36mm in width. They are used in 35mm film cameras and are popular for both amateur and professional photography. 35mm slides are sometimes referred to as 135 slides due to the standard ISO film width of 35mm.
A standard 35mm slide has a paperboard slide mount of 2 x 2 with a transparency film size of 24mm x 36mm. If you compare that to the half frame slide, youll notice that the slide mount is the same but the transparency film size has much smaller dimensions at 18mm x 24mm.
