the media Gallery template were creating is based on a portrait layout and that just means that the slide is taller rather than the wider or lscape mode that most projects are created in so to change the orientation of the slide we just go up to the design tab go to slide size over here and choose custom slide size now because Im working in PowerPoint 2013 the default slide size is set to widescreen now I want this interaction to fill the portrait mode on an iPad so I need to work from that 4x3 ratio so the first thing Im going to do is change widescreen to onscreen show which is the 4x3 and to rotate my slides I just need to select the portrait layout and if you are familiar with the measurements then youll recognize that the 10in X 7.5 is also entered here although were used to seeing it as a 10 for the width and 7.5 for the height well thats it go ahead and click okay to return to the slide youre going to get a couple options these really dont make a difference to us because

16:9. Commonly known as widescreen, 16:9 is used for highly visual content and should be your default choice of size for creating presentations.
The export resolution of a PowerPoint slide is usually 96 dots per inch (dpi). However, to save your slides with a higher resolution, you need to edit these settings. To do this, follow the following steps: Right-click on Start and then select the Run option.
On the File tab of the toolbar ribbon, select New. Then double-click the Blank Presentation to create a new, empty presentation. Then on the Design tab, click Slide Size and choose the size you want for a default.
Okay, so when you open PowerPoint and start a new presentation, your slide size is set to the default which is 10 inches by 7.5 inches. This is also 1024 x 768 pixels at 96dpi. There are ways to widen the slide, make it smaller, and customize the dimensions to fit exactly what youre looking for.
A slide is a single page of a presentation. Collectively, a group of slides may be known as a slide deck. A slide show is an exposition of a series of slides or images in an electronic device or in a projection screen.
One of the common question we got is whats the optimal size, resolution for PowerPoint slides to use on big screens TVs. The simple answer is: For HD TV: resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, its equivalent of 20in x 11.25in. For 4K TV: resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels, its equivalent of 40in x 22.5in.
On the Design tab of the Ribbon, locate Slide Size in the Customize group, near the far right end of the toolbar. Select Slide Size, and then click Page Setup. The Page Setup dialog box opens. In the Width and Height boxes, PowerPoint accepts measurements in inches, centimeters, or pixels.
Default PowerPoint is NOT HD. So we know that the default dimension of a presentation is 1280 x 720, and that your HD television is capable of displaying 1920 x 1080. You see already a problem with default PowerPoint presentations. Default PowerPoint presentations are not in HD; they are of lower quality.
