the media Gallery template were creating is based on a portrait layout and that just means that the slide is taller rather than the wider or lscape mode that most projects are created in so to change the orientation of the slide we just go up to the design tab go to slide size over here and choose custom slide size now because Im working in PowerPoint 2013 the default slide size is set to widescreen now I want this interaction to fill the portrait mode on an iPad so I need to work from that 4x3 ratio so the first thing Im going to do is change widescreen to onscreen show which is the 4x3 and to rotate my slides I just need to select the portrait layout and if you are familiar with the measurements then youll recognize that the 10in X 7.5 is also entered here although were used to seeing it as a 10 for the width and 7.5 for the height well thats it go ahead and click okay to return to the slide youre going to get a couple options these really dont make a difference to us because

The most common presentation size is 16:9, with a 16:10 close behind. The most common dimensions change depending on the aspect ratio. For example, the most common 16:9 presentation size is 1920 x 1080, while the most common 16:10 presentation size is 2560 x 1600.
Okay, so when you open PowerPoint and start a new presentation, your slide size is set to the default which is 10 inches by 7.5 inches. This is also 1024 x 768 pixels at 96dpi. There are ways to widen the slide, make it smaller, and customize the dimensions to fit exactly what youre looking for.
Change the size of your slides Select the Design tab of the toolbar ribbon. Select Slide Size. near the far right end of the toolbar. Select Standard (4:3 aspect ratio) or Widescreen (16:9) or Custom Slide Size.
Default PowerPoint is NOT HD. So we know that the default dimension of a presentation is 1280 x 720, and that your HD television is capable of displaying 1920 x 1080. You see already a problem with default PowerPoint presentations. Default PowerPoint presentations are not in HD; they are of lower quality.
16:9. Commonly known as widescreen, 16:9 is used for highly visual content and should be your default choice of size for creating presentations. This is because almost all modern projector screens, televisions, and computers display come in widescreen as a 16:9 layout.
Change the size of your slides On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides. Click File. Page setup. To pick a size, click the Down arrow . Standard (4:3) Widescreen (16:9) Widescreen (16:10) Custom: Below Custom, enter a size and pick a unit of measurement (inches, centimeters, points, or pixels). Click OK.
If you work extensively with iPads and presentations in the field then 4:3 is the format for you. In most cases, however, 16:9 remains the aspect ratio of choice for PowerPoint presentations.
