The average Kindle book size is about 300 pages, or 75,000 words of text, and the average Kindle e-book file size is 2.6 MB. But thats not exactly a one-size-fits-all answer. The size of your Kindle book will depend on the genre you write in and how many words (or images!)
The ideal size of your eBook cover art is a height/width ratio of 1.6:1. This means that for every 1,000 pixels in width, the image should be 1,600 pixels in height. To ensure the best quality for your image, particularly on high definition devices, the height of the image should be at least 2,500 pixels.
Ebook Web Apps and Desktop Apps The ideal image size is the same as with any web image: Fill the width of the screen: 1,500 pixels 2,500 pixels wide. Most images: 500 700 pixels wide. Thumbnails: around 150 pixels wide.
In a fixed layout ePUB, the contents of the page slide off the edge of the screen. Its like a printed book. The size and position of the pictures and text must remain constant. Text and images are paginated and they dont change no matter how big or small the screen size is.
The preferred format for the marketing cover is an image of 2560 pixels on the longest side and 1600 pixels on the shortest side with 350 dpi to ensure image clarity on Kindle HDX devices. The image file size should be 5MB or smaller.
As a general rule, an aspect ratio of 1:6:1 works well for eBook covers. Even if your eBook cover size varies slightly from this recommendation, you want to be sure to stick to that 1:6:1 aspect ratio. For example, Snappas default eBook cover size is 1410 x 2250 pixels.
