presentation. The difference between a slide deck and a presentation is that a slide deck is a collection of slides that contains information, while a presentation is the act of delivering the information to an audience.
PowerPoint presentations work like slide shows. To convey a message or a story, you break it down into slides. Think of each slide as a blank canvas for the pictures and words that help you tell your story.
Add a slide In the thumbnails on the left pane, select the slide you want your new slide to follow. In the Home tab, in the Slides section, select New Slide. In the Slides section, select Layout, and then select the layout you want from the menu.
A PowerPoint first slide is commonly called a title slide or a cover slide, and it should include 3 main elements: (1) a title detailing the topic of the presentation, (2) An image that visually supports the title by adding more clarity to the topic, and (3) the reading time required to consume the presentation.
In practical terms, there is often no difference between a PowerPoint presentation and a slide show. The two terms are often used interchangeably, and both refer to a sequence of visual slides displayed in a linear manner to convey information, usually accompanied by spoken words or narration.

Presentation slides are optional. A presentation is not a set of slides: It is about someone having something to say to an audience. Creating slides is therefore less important than planning the presentation, structuring it, and delivering it well.
A slide is a single page of a presentation. Collectively, a group of slides may be known as a slide deck. A slide show is an exposition of a series of slides or images in an electronic device or in a projection screen.
