At the bottom of your press releases, include a short business biography, the equivalent of what youd write on your websites About page. This company description is called boilerplate text; its the information that rarely changes, but you should always make sure its still true before you send a new release.
If it exceeds one page, do not split paragraphs. Instead, put the word more at the bottom center of the first page to indicate to the reader that there is more content on a second page. Include three pound signs (###) or -30- at the bottom of the press release to indicate the end.
You also might want to include ### or another signifier to show the journalist that the release has ended. In the past, this prevented busy journalists from waiting or flipping the page for more information when there was no more news. However, this tradition is still adopted and highly-respected today.
How to write a nonprofit press release? Start with the 5Ws: the who, what, when, where, and why of your story. Add necessary context, supporting details, and quotes. End with information about your nonprofit.
If you write a one page press release, at the bottom of the copy add three pound signs (###), the number thirty (-30-), or the word :end: in capital letters (END). These are abbreviations which signify the conclusion of the press release.
Close in North America, traditionally the symbol -30- appears after the boilerplate or body and before the media contact information, indicating to media that the release has ended.
In journalism, the number 30 is traditionally used to indicate the end of the report or story that is being forwarded for editing or typesetting for publication. No one knows how this tradition started and why it continues to this day.
Three pound symbols (###) at the end to signify the end of the release.
