hello and welcome to this edition of our monthly make and takes so in this make and take session were going to focus on exit tickets so lots of templates ideas some things to consider as you make an exit ticket and some inspiration across the way so this is a later recording because we forgot to record the actual training but we do have some of the resources that we developed in the session within this recording so you can still access those and learn from them so our plan for today is to really focus on what an exit ticket is and its benefits so I think most of us are probably familiar with an exit ticket but essentially its a really quick way for you to gather information about your students understanding so a good check for understanding a reflection a way for students to show what they know and as a teacher its helpful for you to do it so you know what to do for the next day or for the next activity that relates to the topic at hand think of it as a formative assessment not nece

Exit tickets can use a variety of question types, for example, some questions might involve a rating scale, another might be more open-ended asking students to write their specific concerns or ideas or reflection. Another might ask a student to respond to a specific questions or prompt.
An exit slip starts with a prompt created by the teacher. A prompt can be an instruction or question depending on the information sought by the teacher. The goal is to let students respond and describe what they have learned in the class.
An exit ticket, also known as an exit slip, is a short informal assessment activity, typically given to students at the end of the lesson.
Some possible prompts or questions to use for the ticket to leave: Name one important thing you learned in class today. What did you think was accomplished by the small group activity we did today? Write/ask one question about todays content - something that has left you puzzled.
A version of a verbal exit ticket is something called Wise Words. During this activity, students can either write down the most important concept from the lesson that they believe should be shared with others, or they can form small groups and tell the other students what they learned.
Some educators call them exit slips as theyre often presented as small slips of paper given out at the end of a lesson, class period, or school day. Whether you use an actual slip or do a verbal exit ticket, theyre used as an informal assessment of the days lesson.
Why use exit slips? They provide you with an informal measure of how well your students have understood a topic or lesson. They help students reflect on what they have learned.
Exit slips are written student responses to questions teachers pose at the end of a class or lesson. These quick, informal assessments enable teachers to quickly assess students understanding of the material.
