In this episode of Todd's Two Minute Tip Tuesday, provided by the National RV Training Academy, the focus is on how to de-winterize your RV, specifically regarding slide-out seals and suspension preparation. The segment emphasizes the importance of addressing the effects of cold weather, rain, and snow on the RV's components. It recommends applying a UV protectant to the slide-out seals to ensure their longevity. For this task, viewers are advised to use an A-frame ladder and choose a suitable UV protectant, either a dry silicone or a PTFE-based product, ensuring it remains dry during application.

Slide-out seals are designed to create a watertight seal between the slide-out room and the RV. They help prevent leaks by keeping water from getting in around the edges of the slide-out room.
The most common combination of seals are a wiper and bulb type seal. Wiper seals flex in or out, depending on how the slide is moving, to prevent water from getting into the slide room. Bulb seals compress against the slide when its closed. Sealing an RV slide out has taken on many forms throughout the decades.
Operating the slide-outs. Only once the RV is levelled should the slide-outs be opened and closed. Extending the slide-outs when not levelled can cause them to go out of alignment and square with the opening. Alignment issues cause various types of damage to the seals that often result in water leaks.
