(Sound) In this video I just want to show the way that you inscribe your sample name onto the glass slide You just write your sample name by scratching it into the side of the glass. It doesnt have to be perfect you just have to be able to read it. I just want to show you what happens when you frost a slide and all of them are unsuccessful and maybe Ill show you a successful one at the end. But the first one here obviously is if the slide breaks apart when you grind it like this, then you cant use it in your thin section because its already broken. Okay, so most of the slide looks great because its all uniformly frosted but if you look very closely theres a little crack here, and it actually extends this way as well. You shouldnt use this glass slide to continue to make thin sectionsThese two are examples of slides that arent completely frosted so you can hopefully see that theres an area here and an area here on this one where the grinding wheel actually didnt grind a

1. Microscope slides with a frosted end should be handled using gloves to avoid transfer of grease from the skin. Slides are labeled with the study and animal identities using an HB pencil.
Most slides have a frosted or enamel end. This is used for labeling of the slide with a pen or pencil. I would always recommend pencil though as many solvents are used during microscopy sample preparations and will wash away pen markings (not good).
Use Outline view to title a slide Click View Outline View. A slide without a title will have no text to the right of the slide number. Click to the right of the slide number. Type your new title here, or update an existing slide title. Your text will appear on the slide as you enter it.

Permanent ink in an ultrafine tip is ideal for labeling microscope slides and cassettes. StatMark Pens are made of rigid nylon that allow for precise hand marking on glass slides as well as on most tissue embedding cassettes. This quick drying ink is highly resistant to aqueous based stains,
Frosted slides are best used in research or learning environments. The frosted tip of the slides allows the user to easily identify the specimen by writing directly on the slide.
To name slides in PowerPoint, click on the View tab in PowerPoint. Then, click on the Outline View option from the ribbon. Now, in the slide preview section, click on the slide to add the name and start typing. This will add a title name to the slide.
Title: The title should state what has been drawn and what lens power it was drawn under (for example, phrased as: drawn as seen through 400X magnification). Title is informative, centered, and larger than other text. The title should always include the scientific name (which is italicized or underlined).
Slide labels help you effectively identify and track your samples through the process and storage. They should have strong self-sticking adhesive that will stay in place regardless of the conditions they are exposed to, such as freezers or autoclaves.
A microscope slide is a thin flat piece of glass, typically 75 by 26 mm (3 by 1 inches) and about 1 mm thick, used to hold objects for examination under a microscope. Typically the object is mounted (secured) on the slide, and then both are inserted together in the microscope for viewing.
