HTML was written as an SGML application. Each element type had to be defined explicitly (DTDs provide no way to define element types with wild cards), so an infinite number could not be defined. 6 was presumably chosen because it was assumed that nobody would need a sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-heading.
The XHTML documents contains three parts, which are discussed below: DOCTYPE: It is used to declare a DTD. head: The head section is used to declare the title and other attributes. body: The body tag contains the content of web pages. It consists many tags.
The heading elements are H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6 with H1 being the highest (or most important) level and H6 the least.

H1 Main Title. H2 Subsection. H3 Sub-Subsection. H4 Sub-Sub-Subsection.

The section contains page information that is not displayed in the document such as meta information to be used by search engines and the page title. The section is the part of the XHTML document that appears in the browser pane.
The HTML specification defines six headings. Browsers recognize six headings. If you start using and so on, then youll be using an invalid element.
