- Weve all seen those photographers! Maybe as a guest at a wedding or as an assistant to our second shooter, weve all witnessed the frantic, frazzled photographer. They seem under prepared, rushed, stressed, a little out of breath. Maybe that photographer is you? But the key to being the opposite, to being more of that calm collected pro is what were are talking about in todays video, and thats how to go from being in reactive mode to being more proactive by putting together the perfect wedding photography timeline. Hey guys, todays video was inspired from a subscriber question who asked, What schedule is best? Can you please share your wedding day photography plan minute by minute? A role model would help lot so that I dont forget anything and my first wedding is as calm as possible. This is a great question, because whether youre shooting your first wedding or youre shooting your 100th wedding, having a strong timeline in place is going to be the best thing to set you up f

Include some thoughtful photos of mom and bride, brother and groom, kids from previous relationships, and even grandma! These close family members support you and your new marriage, so be sure to have some touching photos of them. This will remind you and them how far youve come.
Select photos of you and your families - from baby photos to current ones, photos of you as a couple and throw some in of the wedding party or close friends.
Here is a general list of what one can usually expect to see. Ceremony space before guests arrive. Procession walking down the aisle. Groom standing at altar. Bride walking down aisle. Hugs with parents once the bride has walked down the aisle. Guest reactions. Exchanging vows. Exchanging rings.
In order to keep your guests engaged and interested in your slideshow, we recommend making it around 5-10 minutes long. This equates to between 60 and 120 photos. If you choose to include video clips, make sure theyre on the shorter side in order to keep the momentum of the slideshow going.
The general rule for events such as anniversaries, birthdays, wedding receptions, etc. is 10-15 minutes. The average number of pictures used per minute is 10-12. Therefore, 100 pictures would produce a 10-12 minute video length. Thats a good rule of thumb in selecting the right number of photos.
So the best way to deal with organizing the images is to break them into smaller categories and then work with one folder at a time. We recommend doing this in the same order the wedding took place. Going by the folders chronologically ensures you do not miss out on any special photography moments.
For a rehearsal dinner video, we think 3-4 minutes hits the sweet spot. Any longer, and you risk the dreaded eye glazeyou know, when the eyes glaze over and the mind starts playing tricks (Didnt we just see that baby picture of Suzie?!).
Great posture. Standing up straight, with your shoulders back and your chin forward, ensures you look your best in every snapshot. I will always look at the couple or scan the group and remind everyone to stand up straight, roll their shoulders back, and bring their chins forward, says Jenny Quicksall.
