this weeks tip is about donations I occasionally get asked by people about issuing chable donation receipts it is what it sounds like if youre not a charity you cannot issue charitable donation receipts and it is not a simple matter to get to become a charity you have to file a lot of paper with Canada Revenue Agency and you have to get their approval and I understand that that approval is more difficult to get recently than it has been has been in the past it seems to be a longer process so you can issue a receipt to anybody who gives you anything but you cannot tell people that theyre allowed to deduct this on their tax return generally if youre not a charity so the term charitable donation should only be being used by a charity you can issue donate dont can issue receipts um for anything you know Cas somebody somebody gives you money Etc you can definitely give them receipt to show that they gave it to you but it doesnt guarantee theyre going to get any kind of deduction on t
