today Im doing a video on the basics of a Darmstadt slide rule many of you may have seen this on eBay there are a little more rare in the US but this was a German design this particular one is a nesler number 21 faber castell made these I dont recall the name of that one but you can see its all in German this vintage is probably early 1950s I would say it is a simplex or slide rule that is it has no calculations in the back other than the slides here to do Exponentials ok so its very compact its a simplex its easy to read it has these nice train track style markings for the numbers these are very easy to read in my opinion I make fewer mistakes and can interpret late a little better Im done practice on these things the back includes a cheat sheet of how to use the very rudimentary instructions these are on German but it also has you know constants conversions and things like that that might be useful and as you can see here weve got Exponentials on the other side of the rule
