hi fifth grade friends our learning targets for math this week is to be able to create an addition problem using mixed numbers with unlike denominators i also want you to be able to explain how to get your answer and how to make equivalent fractions from mixed numbers so the good news is is weve already been doing some of these things where we have like denominators already when we add and subtract so now when were looking at mixed numbers remember that a mixed number is a whole number with a fraction attached to it so you have to look and see again just like we did last week do our fractions have uh like denominators are they the same okay so it says here you can add or subtract mixed numbers as long as they have the same and here we would write denominator so ill just put a d for denominators okay so in this case we can go ahead and add because they both have fives in the denominator we dont have to change anything yet if you felt good last week about numbers with unlike denomina
