we are going to start talking more in color terms starting with tint tone and shade you may have heard these in passing such as lets use a shade of red for this area but theres a good chance that the term shade was being used incorrectly so lets get these color terms down looking back at our modern color wheel these are the pure hues that we work with so let me show you an example of how to create a tint a tone in a shade from a single hue so Im going to pull up red as our example and Im going to split it into three sections and from here were going to mix in white neutral gray and black and then this will result in a tint a tone in a shade of red to remember which is which I typically think that tint and white are similar sounding like a hint of white just like a shade and black are similar in that they both have five letters in the letter a is in the middle and four tone I always think of toning it down and in that way it lessens it now these three are just examples of a tint
