this is part one of a two-part blender tutorial covering the very basics of setting up materials and shading in blender ill give a thorough overview of how to add materials how basic material nodes work and well cover some of the more common nodes youll use in part two we will get into pbr texture materials which are super realistic materials ill save some quick but valuable tips for the end if nodes are confusing i promise this should demystify a lot of it for you lets go a quick note i will be doing everything in cycles these materials will work in ev2 but sometimes the settings are a little bit off between the two render engines we start with materials at the material properties panel with an object selected this panel displays materials assigned to the object this is a default material thats assigned objects can have more than one material assigned to them in these material slots pressing the plus icon adds a new material slot but theres no material in the second slot yet w
