3 Basic lighting techniques in a 3D environment The key light: which is the most intense one among the three and the primary source of light; placed to one side of the subject. The fill light: which is less intense, placed on the opposite side of the key light to slightly fill in the shadow cast from the key light.
In the standard 3-point lighting scheme, a strong key is placed to one side of a subject (approximately 15 to 45 degrees off the camera axis). A fill light is placed on the opposite side and is at least half the intensity of the key. A rim light is placed behind the subject so that it grazes the subjects edge.
Lighting is when you place lights, adjust their intensity and color to create a particular mood and atmosphere. Rendering is turning the 3D scene into a flat 2D image (or image sequence), calculating all the lights, materials, 3D models - to create a final image.
Typically, the key light is set in front of the subject at a 45-degree angle to the camera. The lighting creates sharp shadows on the opposite side of the subject, adding depth and dimension. Fill light: This is a supplementary light set opposite the key light.
Cognitively Guided instruction, or CGI, is based upon 30 years of research. Its a framework that helps teachers to understand how childrens mathematical ideas develop, and provides an opportunity to build on the childs own thinking and understanding.
Heres how to set them up in your 3D scenes: Start in Darkness. Make sure there are no default lights, and theres no global ambience. Add your Key Light. The Key Light creates the subjects main illumination, and defines the most visible lighting and shadows. Add your Fill Light(s). Add Rim Light.
