right what I want to talk to you about now is is a technique called tone or tone coding and basically itamp;#39;s where you take your die or your stain and you mix it in to your finish and it makes pretty much an opaque coating that goes over it you know a lot of guys use it to help even out color add a little bit of depth to something meaning they didnamp;#39;t you know if itamp;#39;s something not quite brown enough or whatever the add a little brown itamp;#39;s a way of kind of manipulating color a little bit or getting it even now kind of the general rule of thumb is my general rule of thumb is and you need to check with the manufacturer of whoever product youamp;#39;re using to make sure the ratio of how much you can add my general rule of thumb is if Iamp;#39;m using a stain I never go much past a 50/50 mix meaning Iamp;#39;ve got half stained half finished I donamp;#39;t even like to go that far 30 40 percents about as high as I like to go including a dye and because I d

Once the surface is cleaned, prepped and has no sealer or coating present, you can apply the stain. Apply the stain in small sections, approximately 4 x 4. Work quickly and feather edges. Apply with a high quality pump sprayer at a fine spray setting, using a circular motion.
There are two types of products you can use for staining concrete floors: acid-based concrete stain and water-based concrete stain. Each option has pros and cons. The color palette is more limited, but the stain typically lasts longer than water-based so its the best solution for high-traffic areas.
NOTE: The application of a semi-transparent penetrating stain is best performed with a brush. Sprayers and rollers may be used but it is difficult to achieve using either of these methods. For stains that are especially thin, foam applicators will help control the application.
For instance, a transparent or semi-transparent stain will bind to bare wood just fine but wont adhere as strongly to a previous layer of solid stain.
A solid stain will have a more paint-like finish, whereas the semi-transparent will let the color variation of the concrete still show through. So consider the condition and appearance of your existing concrete floor, as well as the final look that you are hoping for when making your choice.
Apply the Stain and Remove Residue Dampen the area with water but do not let it puddle. Spray in an overlapping manner, maintaining a wet edge. Allow acid stain to react with the concrete floor for at least 6 hours. Clean residue and pour water on the floor to approximate the final color.
Protect your stained concrete floors with acrylic, epoxy and/or polyurethane topcoats depending on the space residential or commercial. When it comes to sealers for your stained concrete floors, there is no shortage of products, brands, and contracting companies from which to obtain them.
If you follow the application instructions there is a big chance of using too much stain. If too much is applied the excess will just lay on top of the concrete and it will peel.
